Local contractors on board with Palms Collection ahead of council approval
The visionaries behind the vibrant $300 million Palms Collection masterplan show no sign of slowing down. PPNQ Developments has engaged local contractors to carry out the transformation of the former Paradise Palms golf course at Kewarra Beach. The company’s meeting this morning with long-standing local firms FGF Developments, Trinity Engineering Consultants and Property Shop signals positivity ahead of the council’s decision on the project. Following a two-week delay, Cairns Regional Council will vote on development next Wednesday the 11th. PPNQ Developments Managing Director Darren Halpin said he’s excited to engage with esteemed local companies on the “iconic project”. “The locals deserve the work and it couldn’t come at a more important time as Far North Queensland emerges from its COVID slumber,” Mr Halpin said. “The economy is depressed in many areas such as tourism and retail, but if we can stimulate the economy as a whole with this investment … then we are very proud to be doing so. “(It will) create not only jobs for civil works, (but) engineering firms, local builders, architects, interior designers and real estate agents.” PPNQ Developments forecast the Palms Collection would inject an annual $34 million into the local economy, becoming both a key tourism destination and residential hub. The new Palms Collection would include: $11 million waterpark and adventure playground Catholic primary school Large residential lots Village hub including shops, restaurants, bars and function rooms Caravan park Motorhome precinct Short-stay villas Public walking and cycling trails If approved by Council, work is expected to start on site by early to mid 2021.
