After a year’s hiatus, the Cairns Ecofiesta is back and in a new home at the lush Munro Martin Parklands.
Hosted by Cairns Regional Council, it’s a event where the community comes together in the name of sustainability to share ideas, expertise, skills and enthusiasm.
The kid-friendly festival includes roaming performances, interactive workshops and all the latest green-tech and sustainable living solutions.
The free event will run this Sunday at MMP, 10am to 6pm.

Go on a digital adventure
The Cairns-based makers behind the globally-renowned app Questagame will be holding a special ‘QuestaTags’ competition, in which participants use the app to tag sightings of flora and fauna at the venue.
Players can view other people’s finds and if they’re able to identify the species, it’s counted as a ‘capture’.
Prizes include passes to Rainforestation and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
Upcycle for fun
Make a prop from recycled and reclaimed junk, which you can then use to take a selfie in Tropical Steam Punk’s purpose-built photo booth.
DIY skincare
Save your money and your skin at the same time! Tracey from The Source Bulk Foods is giving a demonstration on how to make homemade skin care products using natural, cheap and readily available kitchen ingredients.
Make eco-friendly wraps
We all know beeswax wraps are a great alternative to plastic cling wrap, but do you have any idea on how to make them?
The crafty sustainability services professional Celina Padilha is there to share the recipe and method.

Aerial effervescence
Big batches of brilliant bubbles will be sent skyward by Bugzy Bumblebee and her special plastic-free bubble wands and liquid.
Impeccable musicianship
Headline act, The Natural Culture, will deliver big brass instruments and grooves full of jazz, funk, soul, blues and reggae in a dynamic, uplifting act.
Quirky comedy
The Cosmic Cleaning Ladies will be roving the Parklands with their unique, wacky, interactive brand of eco-focused humour delivered through sketches, songs and dances.

Eco-friendly furnishings
Razzamattazz is the sole Australian distributor of Mad Mats, made from recycled milk and water bottles. Their ecofriendly baskets take a natural turn, made with palm fronds and raffia.
Guilt-free beauty
Palm Cove-based Eorth has a range of non-plastic beauty products, from dental floss to cleansing bars, cotton buds and razors.
People of the Earth will be travelling up from Byron Bay with their reef-friendly organic surf zincs and sun butters.
Green cleaning
Toxic-free cleaning is sorted! My Habitat Products, based on the Tablelands, produces back-to-basics household cleaning products based on essential oils and natural ingredients like vinegar.
ENJO will also be selling its microfibre cleaning cloths that need absolutely no chemicals.

The Samosa Hub will be there to serve the perfect snack as you’re strolling around the grounds. Pick up a couple of traditional Indian veggie samosas, and maybe some spring rolls or a curry.
Colours of the rainbow
Aya Earthfood stands by the premise that food is medicine. It’s a healthy hub that delivers freshly prepared, tasty, nutritious plant-based food and drink.
Caffeinated goodness
A creamy coffee in a Green Caffeen cup. It’s a coffee cup swapping system where you can track the number of disposable cups you’ve saved from landfill.

Cairns Regional Council is developing its Climate Change Strategy 2030, and you’re invited to have your say on this important topic.
The strategy will identify a pathway to reduce emissions, set goals and take action in Council’s own operations, as well as support the community and develop Cairns as Australia’s capital of the Smart Green Economy.
